I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for everything you did to assist, coach and support Kathy and I. It really would not have been the same or as enjoyable if it weren’t for your words of wisdom and continuous encouragement. It was also so great to have you there and experience all the various stages with you ~ the nerves during the build up and the celebration afterwards! I’ve been on a high ever since – I just loved every minute of the day… I was waiting for the pain / struggle to hit me on the run but I felt almost stronger as time passed… doubt I was I was but I felt like I was flying my last 5 – 10km on the run. Was actually amazed that I was not stiff or sore anywhere else. I still can’t believe my overall time – I am SO HAPPY! And gee your prediction was spot on – now kicking myself about the 3 minutes over a sub 11:30… it must have been when I had to stop twice to wait for water on the bike course! Going to Kona still feels surreal… let me know when it should become a reality i.e. when should I start training? I would love for you to continue coaching me going forward!

I just wanted to drop you a mail to say a BIG thank you for all your help, encouragement and guidance! When I first emailed you about the possibility of me doing IM and you putting a program together for me – I mentioned that my main goal was to finish IM with a smile on my face, and that is exactly what I did. I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it and for that I thank you for! Not only did I finish smiling but I finished better than I ever thought I would have been able to. I’m looking forward to training harder and doing even better next year at IM 2010 and hope that you will continue to help me in improving.

As a testament to Evan’s coaching philosophy and techniques, I completed my first Ironman comfortably and what’s more was able to accomplish and exceed my goals for the event. The training programme Evan designed, accommodated my preferences, took into account my current fitness level and importantly did not at any stage result in an injury. The additional advice and information on how to train, Race day preparation and nutritional requirements where invaluable. Definitely be back for Ironman 2009 ! Thanks.

Thanks to Evan Jones, for the coaching and advice that saw me through the toughest race of my life! 6 months ago Ev set up the goals for world champs and put in place the programme for me to achieve these goals! Before the race he told me to leave my ego behind and forget about trying to race against the masses, he said that the race only started in the marathon and the marathon only really starts in the heat of the Queen K highway and lonely sauna which they call the Energy Lab! Up until this race I had always suffered on the marathon, on the day I felt so strong and I enjoyed every step of that run, made sweeter as I was passing guys who had come flying past me on the bike! Thanks Ev, looking forward to Ironman 2008!
